The Sears Tower wins an Architectural Award of Excellence.

Drilling machine for structural steel developed.
The landmark Los Angels Bonaventure Hotel features a cluster of five towers, all tied together to meet seismic design requirements.

  AISC introduces the AISC Quality Certification Program.

Solid bar band saw exhibited at IMTS, Chicago. (IMTS is held every other year; Daito joined IMTS 7 times in a row until 1992.)  
Started Participation in AISC with machine demo; the only demo drew attention. (AISC is held every other year; Daito joined AISC every year until now.)  
Space Shuttle Columbia launched at John F. Kennedy Space Center.
1981
NC band sawing machine developed.
Two sold bar band saw exhibited at EMO show, the world largest machine tool fair.

NC automatic Solid bar band saw GA series exhibited at IMTS, Chicago.  
 
1983
Drilling & sawing line system for structural steel developed.  
GA series NC controller featured METAL WORKING PRODUCTION cover.  
  Sony Tower of New York city completed.
1984
Solid bar band saw exhibited at IMTS, Chicago.  
  For the first time, estimates put computer use in structural engineering firms at greater than 50%.

  Since 1980, bidding alternate designs has gained in popularity and has allowed steel to be more competitive
The United Airlines terminal in Chicago helped popularize both the use of curved steel tubes and exposed structural steel.
1987
The structural NC drilling machine developed.
 
1988
Participated in AISC with the first drilling machine exhibition in history.  
  LRFD is just starting to show up on projects. The designers of the AEGIS pre-commissioning building in Bath, Me., report that using LRFD reduced the weight of the structure by around 10%

  Nucor-Yamato Steel introduces the first domestically produced 40in. beam.

Northridge earthquake occurred.

The Gaylord Texan featured cellular beams.

Daito Automatic Structural Steel Processing Line “DASP” developed.
  Buckling Restrained Braced Frames became very popular later in the decade.
2005
Participated in AISC with prototype Plasma Coping Robot CR1040 demo.
  Hearst Tower completed (original 6 story building of 1928 reserved).

DASP (Daito Structural steel Processing system) introduced in the US.
  A steel framed, post-tensioned slab system proved economical for a parking structure at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
2008
 
  Shop-applied intumescent fire protection cuts the construction schedule on the BJC institute of Health in St. Louis.
2009
Beveling Machine for I beam developed.
 
2010
The structural combined machine (drilling/band sawing) developed.
 
2011
Square column beveling machine developed.
